Default "WW2 British Airborne RAC glider unit" beret

Can this really be?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WW2-Briti...53.m1438.l2649

I noticed it when the auction 'opened'. However, assuming it to be a fantasy item, have no intention of putting in a bid.

Nevertheless, I have since seen a lot of bidding activity, and the price is rising very nicely!

The badge is a copy of one in the Pegasus Museum in Normandy. The display badge was donated by a veteran but it was home-made and very unofficial.

This is the same rubbish that is flooding into all the auction rooms in the southeast. In nearly 60 years of collecting I`ve never seen so much fake crap being sold by supposedly reputable auction houses. It all comes from a few so called dealers and this guy has a number of aliases all selling rubbish .SAS, LRDG, PPA endless garbage dated flags ,pieces of supposed ww1 aircraft fabric, spurious RFC wings and an endless supply of varied german ww1 pork pie hats and rusted "relic" tank spatter masks.all of which are fake. The auctioneers all must know these people but they just put disclaimers in their terms and conditions and are happy to take the money. For new collectors its a minefield ,they may as well save the effort and disappointment and just burn their money!

Sometimes, and we've all done it, we buy an aged restrike or a Ind-Pak cloth fake, despite all our best efforts. However anyone buying this rubbish, well they really should have known better.
