Default County of London Regiment

I know that we have touched on a couple of the London Battalions, but i thought it would be nice to see what badges other members have in their collection be it Officer's or O/Rs.
I shall start off with 2 versions of the 28th and a 10th all OSDs.

Cheers
Malc

Lovely badges esp. the Hackney (but then I would say that being a local lad)

Here's a few of my London's as worn contempoary with 1914.

1) 5th City of London (London Rifle Brigade)
2) 6th City of London
3) 7th City of London
4) 8th City of London (Post Office Rifles)
5) 9th County of London (Queen Victoria's Rifles) - [from my uncle's collection] I was hoping to get one at Farnham but no such luck.

And a few more...

1) 10th County of London (Hackney Regiment) - high tide variety
2) 10th County of London (Hackney Regiment) - low tide variety
3) 11th County of London (Finsbury Rifles)
4) 12th County of London (The Rangers)

My fingers aching from all the clicking to downsize pics so I'll leave it there for now (plus it's where the gaps start ).

Cheers,

Luke

The 8th London one is a very good copy but has the same flaw as all of those type of copies in that the crown is solid. I had one of these myself and when put next to a genuine one the differnce is apparent as the rear detail is poorer.

Hi Jeanpit,

For the 8th being a restrike all the reason's Alan has said, to be safe when looking for a new one go for one with a slider, voided crown is a MUST and good detail both FRONT and back (quality is the key).

For the 10th you can tell by the dodgey tower compare it to my two and the tower in yours looks like paveing slabs piled on top of eachother if you get my meaning (again quality is the key in these badges).

Keith's your man for London badges anything I know on the subject is what he's taught me so your probably best of asking him.

Cheers,

Luke
