Simon
Good afternoon
Right my theory is based on studying KOYLI cap badges ! I collect these in specific and the reason I don’t like it because it is the only type with a rose that is raised and there are 100s of examples of these for sale in various artificially aged appearances.
No other example exhibits this feature of such poor quality here is one below from my collection for reference . I’m going to name this fake (the clown rose)
Kind regards Chay

Personally I am not sure but the originality or not of a £5 badges wouldnt put me off buying it if I wanted it and the price was acceptable, which of course its not.

regards

I’m not convinced they are from the same die.

If you compare the central rose it is different. The inner circle of anthers on Torin badge sit proud like a jelly mould whereas the badge you show as the fake has them in relief like pock marks.

Default Blancmange Badge

Chay's right. Call it what you like this is the classic KOYLI rip off. Too thick or thin bendy metal, dodgy slider, too shiny or artificially aged. All it needs is a collar and fleas. If only all fakes were as blatant.

Obviously this example is made in two parts, but sometimes both parts are w/m or g/m to pass it off as post 1950 one piece w/m badge or EI one piece g/m badge. Beware!
