Default RND Machine Gun Cap badge

Hi

I would appreciate any input into the authenticity of this RND Machine Gun badge?

Thanks in advance.

The subject of many a debate I believe!

The image you show above is not one I would want in my collection. I don’t like the MGC part of the badge, the slider or the RND title.

These badges were never manufactured in a factory as a one piece badge. They were field made using solder (K&K states) from MGC cap badges and RND titles. And as such any original example should have remnants of the shoulder title lugs and at the very least the MGC part of the badge should be a right one!

Yes I know anyone could make one using an original MGC cap badge and RND title but one gets a feel for what is old and what is more recent made when you’ve handled enough examples of period cap badges with the correct wear, age, patina etc

Regards
Geoff
