Default Unknown formation patch
Would anyone be able to shed light on the formation patch worn by these gents? I would think the photo was taken in early WW2, approx. 1940.

The patch looks like a two colour triangle to me; although the definition on the image is not helping much.

Any other insights into the likely identity of these gents would be welcome!
