New album - King's (liverpool Regiment) 1896 Ptn Badge

Tom, congratulations, that's a great display. It's good to have more KLR up there !
I believe that the development of 4362A/1896 is as follows 1896 lugged, separate hind legs 1903 long slider, separate hind legs 1906 short slider, separate hind legs c1915/16 fused hind legs. The last type has pointed tags whilst the earlier ones have U shaped ones. The original Sealed Pattern is in the IWM and is annotated with various dated changes, thus it has scars of forner lugs and the end of the slider clearly shows it having been shortened. At the moment I'm working on a typology of manes, grounds and tails ! The Gaunt OSD (of which I'm insanely envious) is characterised by a prominent sternum, not seen on the Jennens one (I still haven't seen a Firmin marked King's OSD), best wishes, Julian |
