Default Canadian Gulf and Kuwait Medal.

Hello Gentlemen.A quick question. Can a member confirm that this medal is the Canadian-made and issued Gulf and Kuwait medal and not a commercial mass-produced copy for the collector's market.
Thanks and Happy Holidays to all members of the Forum.

Hi Jo,

Looks okay to me. In fact the South West Asia Service Medal with bar "AFGHANISTAN" I was issued, is the same type, heavily chromed with smooth details. Very bright, in the sun it's blinding. Most medals nowadays are similar. My Somalia medal is sharp in detail though. Looking at my rack, the Special Service Medal is heavily chromed as well. I wish I had a camera handy so I could show you. Maybe another member can. I think also thatcollector's medals are marked copy if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Jo, I agree, looks original to me. These were fine stampings until they were Rhodium dipped. They lost much of the detail and and are extemely shiney. As mentioned above, the SSM is certainly done in the same manner.

In the case of these medals, the copies are more detailed and defined than the originals.
