Default Dieppe commemorative medal

Greetings!

Can anyone provide the proper name for this medal? And when were they issued? Sorry about image quality, top bar reads Dieppe 1942. Beyond the Dieppe clasp which belongs with a CVSM, the ribbon says this is French, although from what I've found the ribbon appears to have multiple uses, most commonly associated with foreign affairs.

The following site gives a rather lengthy description for the medal, but, unless lost in translation, doesn't seem very "formal". There is also no explanation provided about the award.

Hi Badger

No idea as to where/why the medal was issued. Stephen's post indicates it is likely a French-made commemorative. However the Dieppe clasp on yours intrigues me.

Any chance for a pic of it's reverse? There were x3 different versions issued officially and I have seen many fakes too.

regards
Darrell

Thanks for the link, Stephen. This at least suggests an event connected to an origin for the medal. I'll have to chase down a little more information to see if I can confirm this as the source. Searched, but, found nothing online about a commemorative event in 1986.

As for the clasp, Darrell, may not be able to get a reverse image. I do know, however, that the medal belonged to the owner's grandfather and she also had his medal set which included a CVSM. So my guess is that for some reason he attached the clasp to the commemorative medal. Keep in mind the pic I posted was captured from another picture shown on a cellphone screen.

Regards,
Badger

Good pic showing a different bar style, thanks Stephen. I've usually referred to this one:

Still have no further information on presentation dates. Also found a couple pictures showing veterans wearing the medal.
