Default ATS RAF Companies

I have just read through ACI 161. This was published 22.03.39. outlining the responsibility for supply of clothing to the ATS vested in Territorial Army Associations.
Having detailed what, and how items would be issued to members of the ATS the last paragraph intrigued me:
" Pending further instructions, articles of clothing and initial grants for shoes will not be drawn in respect of RAF companies."

The ATS was formed on 09.09.38. and existed until 01.02.49. I thought it was purely an Army unit. Were RAF companies something that were proposed but never formed?

Apparently not, The WAAF was created on 28.06.39. apparently absorbing the forty-eight RAF companies of the Auxiliary Territorial Service which had existed since 1938.

So, can anyone show me photos of the RAF ATS in uniform (if it was ever issued after this ACI), and can they give me details of where the forty-eight companies were raised please?

Stephen.
