I can't seem to identify this trade/device.
Appreciate assistance

Default Trades Badges

Communications Research - they are for the Garrison Dress Jacket which has not been worn since the late 1990s.

I guess I would expect the S to signify Signals. This Corps had a Communicator Research Operator occupation on establishment. Apart from the Wings one can also discern crossed flags.

Marc is correct. The S stands for Supplementary. The badges took their design from the post Second World War Royal Canadian Navy trade badges worn by members of a specialty communication branch. A more comprehensive explanation is found in an article at the following link:
