Grove Manufacturing Anodised badges
I had a nice suprise this week when given for free, only my second "Grove MFG" badge, an unusual item, a post 1954 pattern Wiltshire Regiment Gold Anodised Aluminium badge which has a brass riveted slider. The back has a strange finish, it is very smooth similar to the rear of a "Nut Chocolate Bar" like surface.
The other Grove badge I have is a Manchester Regt pre 1958 pattern Silver Anodised badge with a White metal slider which has a similar riveted style fitting to the above badge. I'm sure they are both genuine, Grove are probably the scarcer of Andoised makers. Last edited by 2747andy; 03-05-09 at 04:45 PM. |

Hi Andy,i believe that they are both 100% genuine. I have a few examples of Grove badges.A Manchester,Northamptonshire and an Artillery beret badge. They all have the same fitting as your examples. It appears that the slider is slotted and then fitted over a stump of aluminium which is then flattened to grip the slide.

Hi chaps, I can add a Parachute Regt example to the above. Exactly the same configuration with the white metal slider fixed over a stump on the rear of the anodised alluminium badge. Only one I've ever seen on a Parachute Regt badge. Regards all Bess |

As of this morning I can add the 1st pattern Army catering Corps anodised badge to this list. Usual Grove MFG white metal slider, rivetted to the rear of the badge.
