Default Why so expensive

These buttons were sold on ebay tonight for £26 which seems very expensive, is this the going rate?

I'm not sure Tony,I thought they could be Royal Dublin fusiliers but my reference resources are limited.

Have never seen 'Facing Pairs' of Buttons, only Collar Badges.

Gilt & Silver Mounted Small Buttons usually command a slightly higher price than say a OR Small Brass or Anodised example, while some 'Kings Crown' Anodised can be as rare as their corresponding Cap Badges!

Collecting Military Buttons has its own sub-culture!

These buttons are not so common, the price looks reasonable to me.

This pattern was worn by both the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and the Royal Munster Fusiliers.

Worn on mess dress by the Munsters. In the Dubs, it was one of a pair of designs (the other design had the Elephant) worn on the mess dress jacket and waistcoat. The Dubs were unique in having two different button patterns .

John

having said that about the price, I saw a pair went on e-bay for GBP 6 about 3 weeks before this lot.

Thanks everybody, I saw the same pattern in Neills Blue Caps and thought they could be buttons to the dubs, I had purchased the 2 buttons for £6 a couple of weeks ago from the same vendor and was a bit confused when I saw the latest price.
Best Regards,
Connaught

Theys started of @ £6 but were pushed up by two large bids from the same buyer within 15 seconds of each other to try and beat an earler bid from the winner. 6***1 may even have had an higher bid on them!

6***1( 402) £26.00 06-Mar-10 19:30:08 GMT
2***2( 285) £25.00 07-Mar-10 11:39:36 GMT
2***2( 285) £21.00 07-Mar-10 11:39:21 GMT

Starting Price £6.00
