Default Machine Gun Corps, good or bad please

Hello good people of the forum
Picked up this MGC for a few quid the other day in an antiques place in town.
The chap said he'd cleaned it with brasso, hence the shine.
He said I could have my money back if found to be a copy, as I'm a little dubious about it, it didn't look right, I don't know why?
So over to you chaps please...

Cheers

Chris

Not original I'm afraid. The die flaw in the crown has been discussed many, many times on this forum. There are numerous variants of this badge and regardless of what some people say they can be picked up for very little. So, don't be tempted to pay the over inflated prices that you sometimes see. I picked one up this week for £6 and would never pay more than £15.

Just to add, you will often find this fake with the addition of a "MMG" or "RND" scroll.

Can you highlight the die-flaw in the crown please? I've looked and can't see what you are talking about. Thanks.
Cheers,
Alex

Thank you Nozzer for your kind responses,
It cost me £9, I have taken it back and showed him this thread, he was more than happy to give me my money back.
He's now selling it as a repro, for £2.50.
Cheers again

Chris

You are welcome, glad he was OK about it. As I say, they are not hard to get, but if you are stuck I am sure I can send one your way.

Cheers Nozzer, I'll keep that in mind.
Yea, he's a good bloke, I've got a few cavalry and Tank Corps buttons from him in the past.
He gets a few bits and bobs, he doesn't specialise in militaria.
Cheers again all

Chris
