East Kent Regiment Silvered Badge.
This badge came fitted to a Buff's officer's forage cap (the seller provided photos to show that the badge was hollow die struck and fitted with a slider and that the cap had holes from where a badge with east / west lugs had been fitted).
I've aquired the cap, thinking that the badge is either an Other Ranks genuine badge which has been plated or a complete fake / repro. The badge would appear to to have a toned silver coloured plating, there are no worn areas to show whether the base colour is white or yellow metal. Has anyone any views as to whether this badge is a genuine one which has been plated for whatever reason, nefarious or otherwise, or a straightforward out and out fake please? |

Certainly looks different to the Birmingham Mint version. Note on your example the join points from the neck to the wing and the wing to the tail.

Thanks and apologies - I should have mentioned, I'd checked the Birmingham Mint badge as what I thought would be the most likely suspect prior to buying the cap, yes, the badges are noticeably different.
