Default Possible Fleet Air Arm Badge?

Hi All,

I've picked this up thinking Fleet Air Arm but can anyone confirm or correct that and tell me where it's worn please?

Thanks a lot,

Michael

Google search for number brought up link to Royal Navy site , have downloaded pdf file as it looks like a great resource for RN badges (including descriptions).

"Description: Insignia, Organisational. Commando Helicopter Force. Design of dagger with pilot wings and griffon sub-mounted. Black on Olive"

Don't see why you think it's not what you thought! It IS Fleet Air Arm! These are the Fleet Air Arm squadrons that operate helicopters in support of the Royal Marines.

Thanks a lot everyone,

Pete, I know nothing about them really. I have been given a flight suit by someone with an RN connection so thought it would be nice to badge it as a Navy pilot.

I have been looking at their uniforms on line so when I saw this badge I half recognized it and thought it might be worth getting.

I presume it can't go on the suit now but it's still a nice one to have, especially now I know who they are.

Hi Michael

Since the vast majority of pilots in the Fleet Air Arm ARE helicopter pilots (there are still very few jet jockeys in the RN) you could put it on your flight suit. It just depends what squadron you want your flight suit to represent. Don't forget that every pilot wears their squadron badge on their flight suit, so it depends what squadron badge you put on it! I guess you need to work out which squadron you want to badge the suit for.

Thanks Pete,

I go around schools doing talks about remembrance in November. This suit was given by a grateful teacher to add to my "dress up" bag for next year.

The uniforms look better badged up so to be honest it will be badged as any squadron I can get cheap badges for.

I've picked up a pair of rank slides for this that cost me £1 but don't really know what else I need.

Thanks for the help,

Michael
