Hi, There seems to be a few of these, both brass and blackened popping up on e-bay recently. I was interested until I seen this link.http://https://www.warmuseum.ca/cwm/...=3&page=0.html
I can not see any version of a metal badge here, but that it not to say they do not exist. Others may know better. Regards, Jim |

RNMBR cap badge
I was told several years ago that these were fantasy pieces, the fact that a lot turn up on exxy only reinforces this.
Could anyone shoot this theory down in flames for certain . . ? Rob |

This thread may be of interest https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ighlight=Motor
To date the only publication this badge is found in is Martin Marsh’s catalogue of repros. IMO a fantasy item. |

Like most other collectors (I know there are some dissenters out there!), I believe that these are just fantasy pieces. They have been around in vast numbers for at least 30 years and I have yet to see one I think is a genuine badge. There is no record of them being issued and, if genuine, what are they for? Who would have worn them, where would they have worn them and why would they have worn them? I know some people say they have a genuine example but how do they know what they have is genuine? I have yet to see any evidence that these are genuine badges and that they were ever issued to members of the RNMBR. However, I am willing to reassess my feelings about these badges if someone could present me with some evidence/proof that they are genuine. I've never even seen one being worn in a photo - and there are many photos of members of the RNMBR out there. I have many in my own collection - and not one of them is wearing this badge.
OK - rant over! Pete |
