Default RMA title

Posting an RMA (Royal Malta Artillery) wartime battledress slip-on, embroidered in black.
Note that the configuration fully complies with the brass s/t, in that not only is it curved but the number of abbreviation dots (two) is also strictly adhered to.

I didn't realise until this week that the current Armed Forces of Malta still wear the anodised RMA collar badge and the gun in No 1 Dress. Is this gun exactly the same as the current RA No 1 Dress badge.

Are RMA/AFM badges relatively common in Malta for sale?

Hi Keith

Yes, the AFM have perpetuated their Gunner antecedents, hence apart from your observation, the cap badges and buttons are as for RMA but without Crowns.

Can you verify the precise pattern of the current RA No.1 Dress badge? As far as I know, AFM Sergeants wear a gold embroidered gun on a dark-blue rectangular backing on their No.1. I need to hunt out notes, including a mislaid magazine spread featuring all the uniforms currently worn by AFM,

As for common availability for sale here: I WISH!

Thanks GTB,

The RA No 1 Dress sergeant's gun appears to be exactly as you describe the AFM gun so I'm happy with that.

Availability, shame. I was hoping there would be plastic KC RMA badges falling out of the woodwork

Regards,
Keith

A Martello Tower instead of a crown, is that used for all rank badges?

Basically the AFM follow the British ranking but the Crown was omitted and replaced with the Tower.

As a point of interest, the soldier standing 3rd from left, back row, is a member of the Revenue Security Corps
