Default A Coy, 1 Wessex Vols

Gents, technical question.

I am aware that the Brandy wine flash was carried in use behind the Wessex cap badge by C (Berks) Coy in 2 Wessex,.

However did A Coy continue to wear the Glosters back badge in 1 Wessex? If so presumably it was anodised, silver or gold?
Regards all

Bess

Default Back badge

Not sure if worn on cap . I thought silver was Gloucesters and gold was for the proposed Glouc and Hamps amalgamation. I await to be corrected 😁

Hi Bess
To quote from Martin Lee - Brownes book '1 Wessex' A Company wore the Glosters Back Badge up until March 1973. It was agreed that ;

The 1st Battalion the Wessex Regiment is a regiment with its own identity and it was quite properly felt that A Company should in keeping with the other five companies, which make up the Battalion,adopt a uniform dress.

I am yet to visit the National archives to confirm, but I believe that the back badge was gold anodised the same as the Wessex cap badge.

Regards Neil

Maybe the answer is in the big book "No Bull".
