Default Volunteer Citizen Force

Can anyone suggest a source of information on this First World War body? A photo attached.

If you've not got it already Jon, I thoroughly recommend this very detailed and well-researched book:

Default Citizen Volunteer Force

I believe the Citizen Volunteer Force were also known as "Winston's Bobbies", raised after the siege of Sydney Street in 1911 when Winston Churchill was Home Secretary.

During WWI they were absorbed into a Battalion of the London Regt.

Good evening,

The only sources I know of are:
Winstons Bobbies
Crown to Crown Journal of the Nort Eastern Police Society
Issue 1, 1998

Volunteer Civil Force
DA Haighton
Bulletin of the Military Historical Society
May 1998 Vol48 Issue192 pp205-208

The Civil War of 1915
J Twell Brex
Pub c1914
Although a novel the last few pages are about the VCF

Of these I've only seen the MHS article. It gives a description of rank insignia but they appear to be the same as those of the VTC - I've posted a photo on the forum of an officer which would seem to confirm this as does the photo above. However, the rule book held by The National Arhives has a different rank system.

Steve
