ACC title
Many thanks Unknownsoldier for putting up the pic of the cyclist with the ACC title, it has an open "A" as opposed to PB's and the one shown on the link I posted, but no matter, I think I can now put mine with my cyclist badges.

Hi, a collection of badges from a cyclist who went on to join the Armoured Car Companies had both version of ACC's in it. As an afterthought maybe cyclists naturally migrated to the ACC. Hope this helps, Mike

The Army catering Corps was formed just prior to REME who originally had a large ST so it's possible that the ACC also wore a large size which may well have been originally made for the Cyclists and were still in store.

I've not given up with this and have tracked down the following.
The article I referred to in Crown Imperial was written by Ken Goodson and appears in No73 Winter 1993. An excellent article on the Reorganisation of Yeomanry Regiments as Armoured Car Companies after the Great War. Illustrated is a title 26/AAC Unfortunately the article doesn't assist any further other than to say this is the only unit title known. In Westlake all the Army Catering Corps brass shoulder titles known are illustrated and can also be seen in my Army Catering Corps album. Again we are not assisted with WW1 AAC titles that might have been worn by Cyclists or anyone else. However today I obtained a AAC brass title that is not in Westlake, one I have not seen illustrated anywhere else and which looks very WW1 IMHO. I say this as it is a close match to the the common ASC and AOC brass titles that were open topped and sometimes seen in contemporary photographs bent into a curve by the owner. Could this actually be the Army Cyclists Corps brass title leaving all the other styles to be Army Catering Corps as identified as such in Westlake and in so many collections? Regards Sean |

Interestingly the brass cyclist title was reproduced in cloth at the end WW1
http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30103501 in line with the pan Army adoption of cloth titles. How this fits in with the ACC title in the photo, I don't know. The few photos of the TF Cyclists I have seen have the T over cyclists title. |

I have seen a couple of images of Army Cyclist Corps with these type titles.
The Army Catering Corps other than Officers did not wear the metal titles for a long period and their use was mostly in hot climates I believe. I was of the AA period. I show 3 different sizes here the top one I am unsure if Army Catering Corps. Paul |

Sean,
I suspect your one top left and my top one are earlier than the Army Catering Corps, that is just through asking Old Comrades and items what they have kept and the style, type and size is not what I have been able to associate them too. Personally I would love to be wrong as there is not much inthis area to collect. Paul |
