The IWM has a signed, bound photocopied transcript of "THE SPECIAL TRAINING CENTRE, LOCHAILORT, INVERNESS-SHIRE A PERSONAL MEMOIR" by an AF Austen, but with a production date of 1991, which doesn't tally with the date of death given in post no. 10.
There's mention of a Private, later Colonel AF Austen (1943 Brigade Signals) in "In The Picture: The Facts behind the Fiction in Evelyn Waugh’s Sword of Honour", by Donat Gallagher, Carlos Villar Flor. But again, is this the correct AF Austen? Last edited by leigh kitchen; 02-07-19 at 12:54 PM. |

Commando Signals
Leigh, I think the man in post 7 fits the bill, I believe he wrote or was going to write a book on radios used by SF.
Many thanks Rob |
