E146 Frontenac marked "KINNEAR D'ESTEN" (?)
E163 Montreal marked "E.V. LAMONTAGENE LIMITED"
I would bet my CEF 252nd that "SAR & D'BSTERRY. KINGS/1915" is a difficult to read/partial "KINNEAR & D'ESTERRE, KINGSTON"

Voltigeur,

Very late reply but valid nevertheless.

Checked my 81st and definately marked Ryrie Brothers, Limited.

It was a field find so the mark is vague but definately there. Solid back.

Regards

Default Ryrie Bros.

To add to the list of badge makers, a little more information on the Ryrie Bros. company.
http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/collec.../1593327/45247
Ryrie's as they were the other well known competitor (to Birks) at the time (in terms of jewellery and luxury goods), and also in the business of patriotic items and memorial plaques.
They were located at 134-136-138 Younge St. Toronto.I couldn't locate this company in Montreal (see Bill A) first extensive post on makers.
Ryrie was the main competitor for luxury goods. They were later merged with Birks as Birks-Ryrie, then Birks-Ryrie-Ellis (you may recognize the name from their production of cap badges) and then absorbed with only Birks remaining.

Default mystery maker mark

This one has me baffled. Doesn't help it is double -- if not triple stamped. Any ideas?

M77a: Pre-1928 Canadian Scottish Regt. It is also a different die than the usual badge, flat lugs n-s.

The first two letters look like R and C.

Looks like BC to me, since the left bottom letter has a corner leg. Either way, BC, RC, I still have no idea what this is. Ran it past the CanScots museum people and they couldn't help, as they said they had nothing like it.

Default Rochester.

Isn't the company in Rochester in Rochester England, not Rochester USA?

In reference to the query by Seathanaich, some time was spent investigating the history of Service Supply. No conclusive evidence was found in period sources, but it is likely that Service Supply was in Rochester USA.

If anyone has new makers to add to the lists, especially the CEF list, please post. I would also like to compile a list of badges identified to specific makers. Eg Ellis , 159th, etc.

Note that this is the 6th Bn CEF pattern badge. The Fort Garry's were moved to the cavalry shortly after.
