Default Recce Collars

Hi Geoff: I obtained my 8th Recce collars recently also. Like you, I took a big hit in the wallet, but how often do you see them available? Are yours maker marked? Mine are not.
Cheers.
Moe.

My collars are sterling, but no hallmarks or maker marks either. My understanding is that these were made in the UK, and purchased by the officers.

Just to reassure everyone, my godfather served in the 8th Recce when they were first stood up. He gave me one of his 8th Recce collars. It has no markings on the back.

When I was in high school, I came home one day and my mom told me there was a bag of "army stuff" by the back door for me.
My godfather had dropped off his blue patrol uniform along with his badges and spurs. Included were his 8th Recce cap badge, one 8th Recce collar badge and a few other treasures.

Phil

Default Unknown 8th Recce Badge

VIII Recce 2nd badge_01 (640x479) (300x225).jpg

VIII Recce 2nd Badge_02 (640x479) (300x225).jpgI have 2 different versions of the VII Recce cap badge. One is like the ones shown in pictures on this thread, with the gold "VIII" and the Gold "Recce" separated by a silver area, and the gold bits appear to be attached to the badge with a crimped "pin."

The 2nd one has the entire "VIII RECCE" area in gold and you can see the pattern from the back. Her's 2 pictures of the 2nd one. Can anyone in this forum tell me anything about it?

Default VIII Recce Images

Would the members who posted the images give their permission to have the images captured and posted in the "Canadian post 1920" project. Presently, the only VIII Recce image is the "CANADA" badge type.
These are very good images and will be worthwhile for the reference of our fellow collectors

Thanks

Larry
