An odd bit of kit the shoulder pad and I assume short lived. I have seen a pic of one on a tunic on a FB group, the tunic owned by Toby Brayley.

They are indeed an odd bit of kit, rare to see nowadays. They were apparently short lived and not universally worn when in issue either. I have only seen them in scarlet, which would make sense, as dark blue uniforms would not show stains from the rifle as readily.

Quite right, I forgot about these. Actually, there exists more photo evidence of these Khaki shoulder protectors in wear than the full dress type.
