Default Identification?

On behalf of an enquiry on the Anglo Boer war forum, could I ask for identification of this button?
Thanks

I believe this pattern was produced from the mid 1800s. To the early 1900s, when the castle/VI type were introduced. No doubt the castle/6 type would have continued to be worn until stocks were depleted.
