Default RAF PHYSICAL TRAINING INSTRUCTOR ARM BADGE 1923-19499

1923/1949 - In gilding metal - Three arms, each wielding a club protruding from a centre piece bearing the letters "P.T.I." Known to have be worn on both blue and KD uniforms

Have perused RAF references and supply listing (gathered over 37 years service) and can't find any reference to cloth badge being issued or worn by the RAF, suggest it may be RCAF or illegally worn during times of emergency.

Thanks for that, I was unaware that the cloth badge was not an authorised item for the RAF

Again from 'A Collectors Guide to Badges and Emblems of The Royal Airforce' by D Parsons.

Default PHYSICAL TRAINING INSTRUCTOR ARM BADGE 1923-1949

Whilst I knew the late Dave and respect and admire his life time work. I would point out that the x2 woven badges shown are not captioned with with any authority of introduction. Also see the first paragraph of the introduction to the Work, Quote There are always items that have poor or even non existent written information relating to then unquote

Default Physical Training Instructor Arm Badge 1923 - 1949

Have today had sight of, in a private local collection, a photograph of a R.C.A.F. (Womens Division) Corporal PTI wearing a woven arm badge on her right arm above her chevrons. Photograph taken in Vancouver, date unknown possibly late WW2. Copy of photograph unobtainable

I really wouldn't waste your time with Hobart's book. Very much a beginner's guide only, & with spurious badges shown & incorrect information given.
it's a start but don't take it all as Gospel.

Best regards,
David

Grumpy, Dragon166 was the late Dave Parsons, who's work was sent out as PDF to interested members on request mid 2019 and updated a year later. As far as I know it was not published as hard copy. He obviously had spent years putting it together. Regards, Paul.
