Can you help me identify the uniform/cap badge

I have this photo of my Great Grandfather, George McCreery and nobody in the family knows what his cap badge is, what forces he was in (except perhaps that he was an MP). I have spend hours scouring forums & galleries trying to identify aspects of his uniform, but the cap badge throws me off.

None of the family knows much about him, but this is what I have. He was a Scots-Irish born in Ireland and came to Canada somewhere between 1914 and 1920. He passed away in 1946.

Also, I have looked in the Canadian Archive's web site, but they have no papers, no dates of anything, and the only George McCreery on there has a middle name of Samuel, and I have no clue if that could be him.

Well he has WW1 trio ribbons, so have checked UK WW1 medal rolls and found only 3 matches:

George McCreery Army Service Corps, West Riding Regiment, Royal Naval Reserve T/3/026301, 33492, 81975
George E McCreery Machine Gun Corps 90760
George H McCreery Welsh Regiment 59411

And I thought the badge may be Pinkertons, but alas not, it also looks similar to G4S (or at least its forerunner, perhaps a Canadian equivalent???).

The uniform looks to be police but not the badge, Strange.

Both my dad & my aunts think he was military police, and that he may have transferred over to Canada during the war, but this is guesses from the little memories they have of my grand father speaking of him.

From the family stories, he left his family in Ireland and ended up in Canada and when my grandfather was 14 - my grandfather came looking for him, and found him in Canada. It does not need to be said, that my grand father was not pleased that his father George here left his family in Ireland, and they did not get along, so exact details are sketchy because there was little talk about George here by my grandfather.

The cap badge is from the BCATP (British Commonwealth Air Training Plan) organization. It is the Central Manitoba Flying Training School. The badge is reported as bronze with blue enamel shield. As Ray observed, it looks as if he served with them as some sort of police.

At the very top of it there is a ring, which would suggest that it was worn hanging from some kind of necklace, hanging around the neck

Dont think it is a ring Bill. The part between the upswept wings is a buffalo. That badge would bring a couple hundred dollars today, if not more.

OK, For some reason, I hit the highlighted entry and I got a picture of a some kind of a medalion, now, when I try to get it back, it seems to have disappeared. Oh well, Thanks anyway Bill, I am lost in the wilderness of the forum.
