Default Voided Australian WW1 RAS Badge

Here's an interesting Australian WW1 Return from Active Service badge.

Looks like voided by a jeweler.

Enjoy!

Very nice badge, it has lugs, was it intended to be worn on a hat? Usually Active Service pins have a button hole or clasp.

All the Australian WW1 badges were made with two lugs and worn on lapels.

Somebody with more than average skill I'd say. One of my favourite junk shop haunts had (for many years and probably still does) the "rising sun" beautifully cut from an RAS badge.

Maybe the original idea had been to create some kind of sweetheart badge.

The giveaway that this is what it was was the two digits that remained visible on the reverse of the cut out!
