Default 14TH BATTALION - WHAT COLLARS IF ANY?

Hi all, working on getting this set together to display and wanted to ask what collars if any did this outfit wear. Or did just officers wear them?

Thanks

Simon.

Both Officers and ORs wore a thistle, in facing pairs. Officers' were bronze, ORs' in white metal.

Good afternoon.

And of course one must not forget the hallmarked silver collars, also worn in facing pairs.

Enjoy.

Si,

For reference, here are some post-1908 OSD 'Firmin' collars (not a facing pair, obviously).

If you come across an opposing pair on your travels, I'd be happy to swap a single with you to match them up.

Peter.

Hi Peter, thanks for the pic. Now I know what I'm looking for. I don't usually go for the set for a battalion; but I fancy framing this one as they were the first TF battalion to make contact with German's in 1914.

If I come across any, as you'd be surprised what pop's up over here; I'll get it and pass it on for you.

Regards
Simon.

Good man.

Yes, a fierce ol' mob, your London Scottish. Glad they were on our side!

I have a soft spot for them, as I have WW1 family connections (1st Bn).

Cheers, Simon,

Peter.

I'm starting to think the facing stalks are a bit of a myth (London Irish too). I have two pairs of g/m London Scottish which came with titles and buttons and all the stalks face the same way (Churchill Fig.1956).

Good evening.

As I said above, also available in facing pairs in hallmarked silver. Manufactured by Firmin & Son, assayed Birmingham 1935-36, currently sitting here on the desk beside me.

Enjoy.
