Well this is the brass collar badge, with a single post. Two down, one still to dig out.

Regards Tony.
I know this is a few weeks old now but I've just come across this photo which shows the silver a/a crown cap badge being worn.
They wear a uniform very close to PCs & carry out security duties attached to CO6 – Buckingham Palace, Palace of Westminster, Scotland Yard etc.

Thanks Davepol,

Looks like the badge is definitely worn by the Police - we know that the gold badge was (is) used by the army do we have any information on the silver badge being worn under military authorisation?

Regards

Chris

peter616, These are collar badges? I saw the slider version as a Master Sealed pattern card on the same e bay seller where I brought THE WAR OFFICE senior messenger card. It has since been sold.

HI Jerry,

That's the one - I don't think it got to A/A though as they had adequate stocks of the chromed version.

The sealed pattern tags have the word LAPEL on them so assume that is where they were worn.

Many Thanks

Chris

Chris, Yes the HO badges shown by peter616 are for the "collar" but the sealed pattern WAR OFFICE badge I have has a slider and and is chrome plated.

Hi Marc,

Yes, the A/A badge was certainly authorised for issue but I don't think any were bulk manufactured due to stocks of existing chrome items as per Jerry's pattern card. I have the figures at home in one of my book's appendices for the chrome version.

Can provide figures as required.

Regards

Chris

If anything it is proberly the gold colour crown.
What is 19236?
How do we find out what sealed pattern No 19236 is ? Can we contact the MOD and just ask?

Hi Jerry,

It is your badge but in A/A. The Gold Crown is something different.

Regards

Chris

Just in case there is some misunderstanding. The female shown in the photograph is NOT a police officer. She is a security officer. Therefore, the badge is not worn by the police.

Dave.
