To be clear I wasn’t suggesting that if someone had been inactive on here for years we tantamount declare them ‘legally dead’ in respect of the forum and mark their account up as - Rest in Peace etc. There certainly is the potential for unsavoury errors there.

Ultimately there will be potentially hundreds of members who perhaps never posted or whose identities were unknown and have sadly passed on without anyone here knowing. I’m not saying we can or should do anything in such cases or make inappropriate guesses.

Rather this idea is for those where we know of a passing e.g. Lancer17, Jeff Mc William, badjez, Davec2, dragonz18, Cribyn, NavyFred, Boots and Saddles, RMR and so on.

Yep, sensible and very doable.

Dear all
Still reeling from the sad news about Phil (lancer 17), but back in 2019 I recall seeing a similar thread about the passing of Stephen Risby.

Perhaps we could call a permanent thread:

“The Last Post”

Mike

Then as stated an alteration to the membership status e.g.

Member 2008-19 - Rest in Peace

I think that's the best option. I've respectfully changed David C's profile. I can also block pms and emails for individual accounts.

Thanks Mike. I think the change to the profile looks very respectful and makes that he’s not longer with us apparent to even new members.

Removing the visitor messages I think was a good idea, I’d seen he had several including as recent as last year asking if he still did repairs.

Thank you very much again.
