KDM, I'm not knowledgeable on the authenticity points for a genuine Malayan patch. But I can offer opinions on the other two. There are four authentic versions of the SF wing; this is not one of them. (My avatar is one one of the four, a named wing from an OSS veteran.) The fabric and thread are thicker on this one than on originals. The construction of the circular center of the wing is different too, with a more pronounced rim than I would expect to find on an original. Les Hughes wrote a couple of fine articles in the early 1990s on the SF wing in The Trading Post quarterly magazine. If you are interested, I'll provide the citations so you can search for copies.

There is only one authentic version of the SAARF wing. Embroidered on thinner wool fabric than this example, and embroidered in the Schiffli technique. (I'll mangle an explanation of Schiffli, unless I have a reference in front of me.). The example you show doesn't have the same materials and construction of a known original. My guess is that if you flipped all three items over, the thread on the reverse would be a tangle of thick spaghetti, a sign of Pakistani reproductions.

Authentic examples of both pieces are shown in Len Whittaker's book "Some Talk of Private Armies," and in Les Hughes' articles in The Trading Post.

Good hunting,
Donovan

All are reproductions, this is an original S.A.A.R.F Wing that came with the S.H.A.E.F patch.

The ones subject of the querry are Pakistani repro's. Note the mess of the embroidery thread on the reverse.

Happy to send via email pictures of mine just PM me your email address.
