Default "Hunting Walter Mittys"

Love the term "Bloaters". There may be one or two on here.

The Coldstream Guards did not deploy to the South Atlantic during the conflict!! Neither do I recall him being a WO1, never mind RSM either!

Always makes me laugh people like that. Do they not realise that they will get sussed out. How many WO1 RSM Coldstream Guards are there at any one time,3 maybe 5 at the most ?
A couple of quotes about Walter Mittys, both from ex SAS soldiers . Ex RSM Peter Ratcliffe " Your not Billy Ratcliffe,i was talking to him last week and you aren't him". This was in the presence of the RSM of 21 SAS as well.
And from Ken Connor who freely admits that he wasn't one of the 843 soldiers on the Iranian embassy balcony.

Time to trot out my proud little boast again - I was once complimented as being the only ex-army bloke someone'd ever met who hadn't been "attached" to the SAS.

I went to officer selection, at HMS Sultan, for the RFA as a deck officer. Does that mean I was a captain on attachment to the SBS?? People have called me a bloater quite a few times

Ah, hang on - I did a course with a SAS sergeant once - an air photo recognition assistant regimental instructors course.
A proper elite assistant regimental instructors etc etc course, of course, it involved a lot of physical stuff like sitting at desks & use of high tech military equipment such as stereoscopes & glue sticks.
I don't like to talk about it.
He didn't talk to me, only the two Para Regt sgts who were on it too.
I was obviously too good for 'em I s'pose, they were in awe of me - probably a bit scared, being no doubt shy & retiring types themselves.
Nobody gave me a badge for that course ('tho I did get a weeks jankers 'cos the RSM didn't like my haircut when I went on CO's for a pat on the back for doing the course).
Perhaps I'll make myself a badge.
A big shiny badge..........
No - a big shiny medal.......

I once metan SAS patrol when they were on exercise in the Fezzan , Southern Libya, we were on an adventure training jaunt down to Chad. They managed to scrounge a fair few rations from us. Does that qualify me for a sand coloured beret.

They took your rations? Sounds like you got sand coloured beret kicked in your face?
