Default Unknown Falkland Islands Brass Cap Badge

Does anyone have any ideas what this cap badge may be please ? Obviously Falkland Islands related but not the Falkland Islands Defence Force. Will be up for disposal once identified.

Thanks in advance

I have one of these. It was apparently worn by the FIDF for a short period in the 1960's (so I'm told). It was not liked and they reverted to the previous issue badge which they continue to wear to-day.

Dave.

PS. I've just dug the info. out. It was worn circa 1948 - 1965/6. (not so short a period!).

Sorry to highjack this thread.
Nice FIDF badges Dave, can you tell me please what metals and dates these badges are please, and is there an Officer's version?
Thank you

Chris

PS, I have the bronze one, from the FI when I was posted there.

Chris,

Thanks for your message. Other than the dates given for the one at the top, I'm not really able to pinpoint dates of usage. I understand that the bronze one is worn on a beret with undress uniform. The others are manufacturers variations which have been produced over the years. The small versions are worn on the collar of dress uniform. I'm reliably informed that there is no such thing as an "Officers" cap badge. All wear the same badge.

If you do a search for previous threads you may pick up some further bits of information.

Dave.

Chris,

Thanks for this info. My information came in an email from the FIDF about three years ago and was probably current at that time. It may well be that they have had a "gilt" batch made at some time in the past. Another to watch out for. Thanks again.

Dave.
