1/15th LONDON
good morning,
I have finding last year with this shoulder title : this plate : today I have a good idea to clean the plate and I have a big surprise : I see : WATERS name or number ??? 1/15th LONDON (Civil Se..... Ri....) = Civil Service Rifles on the web site National Archives, I don't see the Medal Card about this soldier. thank's in advance for your help. sorry for my English regards michel |

3221 Private Bertram Louis Waters, 15th London Regiment. Signaller 1st Class. From Epsom in Surrey. His service papers have survived.

Bertram Louis Waters is one of the men in this photograph. I have no idea which so you may as well take your pick.

From his service papers it seems that Bertram Waters was in France between 22nd June and the 21st November 1916 when he disembarked for Salonika. He also served in Egypt.
Given that he does not appear to have been wounded in France it seems strange that he mislaid his plate. Perhaps it was left behind when the battalion moved out to go to Salonika. |

it's fabulous. it was in the 60th Division. Inside July & October 1916, this division is on the arras sector. regards michel |
