Is it an Indian Para Badge I wonder.
I have this red wing parachute badge that looks like some of the other India Para Badges I have. However, I can't seem to find reference to it.
Its rather moth eaten, but still in one piece. Some of the black thread that goes across the wings are broken, does this matter. I would appreciate your views on its. Freddy |

Hello Simon,
Thank you for your comments. It's an aged modern fake of what ? The wings are very convincing. Freddy |

The inventive fakers dont just copy real items, they completely invent them also.

I would have thought, upon looking at the photographs, that is of quite recent manufacture.

I agree with Simon, from these photographs, it appears very modern indeed.

Freddy, I’ll venture a different opinion. You may have an early para wing from Nigeria. I got my start collecting international para badges, before I branched out into other areas. The reference books mention Nigeria receiving assistance from other countries to train its first paras in the 1960s. I’ve yet to find a photo of their first qualification wing, but the scant description of it is British design, with red wings. I’ll take it, if you don’t want it — Nigeria is one of the three countries that I never found a wing from. Hope springs eternal....
Cheers, Donovan

It has a rather strange description particularly the penultimate sentence.
Please view the detailed photos carefully, they provide and should be treated as the description and condition report of the item listed. If you require further photos, I am more than happy to be of assistance. Please satisfy yourself before bidding. Please allow me a day or so to get back to you. Does it infer that you should go out and have a good meal, get uproariously drunk and perhaps have a roll in the hay before bidding? If so, it would make bidding much more time consuming. |

It reads rather like a disclaimer that places any responsibility upon the buyer in regard to the badge.
