Question What Canadian badge is this please folks?

Hi all,

I have been through the Canadian badge project collections but am not doing well - a Women's Volunteer Reserve is close but this one has no title scroll. Attractive 2 piece badge.

Please put me out of my misery, cheers Dean.

Hello Dean, the badge in your image is a generic police badge. These were sold to police forces across the country who could not or did not want to acquire a distinctive badge.

Dean, I saw one just the other night at my militaria club meeting. One of the members who collects military police items showed one. He said it was c.WW1. He picked it up at a gun show in Cornwall, Ontario last weekend. I don't remember what he said he paid for it. I think he's a member of the Forum, so he may well comment on it later.

Cheers,
David

Our local police forces used a very similar design from atleast 1905 into the 1940's for sure and possibly later.

Cheers
Chris

I have two, both brass painted black, one with a silver beaver in the center, the other with the beaver missing. Nice looking things but, as mentioned, not rare. I think I paid $10 Cdn for mine in a junk shop.
