Default Unusual 1 CACR Kangaroo badge

An ebay auction listing has this unusual 1 CACR cap badge. The finish and lugs are not typical. (It appears to have been relugged.) http://www.ebay.ca/itm/231816583550?...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Yes, I saw that, it has a bad head with the raised eyebrow which in my opinion means a repro, but the oval "O" looks good, the lugs are not typical for this badge. Could this be a new type of repro that is sneaking onto the market. Although the finish looks old, that could be reproduced as well.

Looks like a casting with Sn/Pb solder on the lugs.

The vendor indicates it is a die cast badge, which is not the way the original badges were made. I think I would stay away from this.

What's that saying, "Good from afar but far from good"?

This is a cast copy of a genuine badge. I have several copies, very similar to this I have purchased over the years, each with varying degrees of success.

Perhaps someone in the past has tried making a copy and these are 'trials', The two I have that are most like this one (similar lugs) are in very whitish brass (large zinc component?) and what I guess to bee pure copper (reddish and very soft).

I'm offering $40 for all unusual copies and fakes...

Phil
I agree there's some definite signs of being cast on the reverse with noticeable pot marking.

Cheers
Chris

Just to clarify, the vendor does state the badge is die cast.
