Default 12th Lancers front plate - original?

Not sure if it is due to soft details. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

No idea but that golden colour makes it look like it may have been lacquered at some time.
Cheers,
Alex

Better photographs of the plate itself required, have you removed it from the cap, sadly, they have been done to death for decades now.

Carefully removing the plate will be a good start. The age of the plate would mean the bolts and nuts are likely hand made. Thickness of the plate is another sign, it should be fairly thin and light for other ranks. Hold the plate up to the light. In many instances with the metal being so thin the high points let light through. Check for small holes on the points of the start. Not always there but some originals have these to allow the plate to be sewn to the helmet. Don`t think this detail has been used on repros. Some good close ups front and back will be good. The quality of the strike would also be a good sign.
Cheers, Dave
