Default Victorian Norfolk Regiment FS Helmet Pagri Badge

For sale a Victorian (worn circa 1881-1900) Norfolk Regiment Senior NCOs and Warrant Officers brass, foreign service helmet, Pagri badge. Unusually for a Victorian badge, fitted with a slider to the rear. Note that the slider has been clipped, EVERY example of this badge that I have ever seen has had a clipped or shortened slider !

Priced at £40 including UK postage.

Paul

Hi Paul,

It is a common misconception that this badge was only worn by senior NCO's and Warrant Officers. Photographic evidence proves that this badge was worn by junior ranks also. A little pedantic I know, but I think we need to correct this assumption.

A nice badge in great condition.

Andrew

Thanks for that, not a badge I know a great deal about and simply citing information quoted by “more knowledge “ dealers from various websites ! (On most websites £75 seems to be the usual asking price!)

I recall seeing pictures of it being worn on SD in WW1 also.

A fine badge at a good price.

It was suggested that this chap is wearing a pagri. I'm not 100% convinced though.

Looks too 'Royal' Norfolk to be the pagri badge to me. Could this photo date to that transitional period in the regiment's history, Andy?

The Scout badge was WW1 era so it's not late 30's when the Royal Norfolk came in. It's either a pagri or for some reason he is wearing an officers badge with the tablet.

I have another postcard that came with this one which he sent to his sister and is dated 1914.

In my opinion, he is wearing an OSD cap badge for whatever reason. The cap is definitely an OR's cap. All very strange.

Alan,

Is there any chance that you can move this thread to another section please? I understand that classified adds disappear after a time?

Thanks
