Default South African Shoulder Titles Not Identified In Owens Book

Hi

This is my first post on the forum as a new member, hoping someone can help to correctly indentify these titles

KS - I have this as Karoo Schutters, its not shown in Owens book, would anyone say thats correct

NTBC - This is shown in Owens book as number 2183 and in the index the description, just says "Natal shoulder title unit unknown?"

I thought possible Natal Telegraph Something Corps?

This is a very light title made out of a very thin brass sheet.

Would be great to know if anyone has come across these.

Hi Andy,

Karoo Schutters is spot on for the KS title.

As for NTBC, I have not seen one of these before. It may or may not be military.

Whenever I see BC, I always think Bowling Club, so it may be something like 'Northern Transvaal Bowling Club' or it could even stand for 'National Textile Bargaining Council'

I am sure if it is military related, someone will be able to identify it.

Good luck
Steven

Hi Steven,

Thanks for confirming the KS title, i can now label it up correctly on its card and you probably right about the NTBC title it could be that its not military and just made its way into Colin Owens collecion and book, hence why it was not identified in the book, but the one i have is the exact same size as shown in Owens book,

But it probably is the lightest title i have ever seen,

I guess that one will remain a mystery for now,

Hi,
Yes I see it in Owens collection and yes. not Identified either.

Owen had a nice collection of badges, not all military and not all correctly identified, but a fair starting point for trying to identify a Sub Saharan badge.
