VTC badge postcard
I saw this postcard on ebay and asked the seller's permission it post it here.
Whilst he lists it as a possible Essex badge, I believe that this is a Middlesex Cadet battalion badge c.WW1. I have one of the badges but have never seen a picture of one in use before. I am not sure why the cadet bns wore their own badge rather than the TF, but suspect it might be because the TF badge had the TF South Africa battlehonour. The style of uniform in the photo suggests pre WW1 cadet rather than 1930-2 by which time he would more likely to be in the standard khaki uniform. Whilst the badge could be a candidate for 2 years that regular badges were not allowed to be worn, in fact most cadet bns shut down. The s/t is indistinct but could well be a C mounted over an abbreviated county title. |

I think it is a shield and 3 seaxes as in the Middlesex crest but I can see the resemblance to a leopard's face. Alan |

I think you should look at kk 1689 Huddersfield VTC, I think it fits the shape and gives the impression of eyes, nose and chin of a leopard, I don't think your badge has the right shape Alan.

It's certainly a good match. The buyer may be able to enlarge it further but it certainly looks like Huddersfield VTC. I have amended the thread title to match.

I would agree Huddersfield VTC is a good contender.
