Would love to know when you get confirmation. One would assume that it is officers and other ranks though.

Here are the examples of the SDF badges that I have. They are all pretty rough and one always asks the question as to whether they are ok .

My opinion is that there is no great demand for these badges and that the quality and make are correct. The badges I posted were purchased in Sudan and the Bronze badge appears to be a very rough casting. Obviously the Silver badge is of superior quality having been manufactured in Birmingham. The hallmarks indicate that it was struck in 1930. I think your badges are the "real" thing.

Thanks, as you say , there doesnt seem to be the same demand as for some badly faked "Special Forces" item, but that is OK by me - less competition for historically interesting pieces !

SDF badge and Sudan Ordnance Corps.
Two Sudan Badges. Thr red felt backing to the SDF badge appears to be original to it. The Sudan Ordnance Corps badge has a stout pin back. John.

Have seen a few of these in NZ over the years but they are scarce. Yes officers badge is silver. A New Zealander ran the SDF Signals in WW2 for a while and had a silver badge. He told me that the badge had signal cloth backing too. Dont know what it looked like though.

Locally Hall-Marked Collars
To add to the information on this post, I thought members might be curious to see some locally hall-marked officers silver collars of the S.D.F. that I recently took into stock
See below attached a 'pair' of S.D.F. collars (they came with provenance belonging to a former S.D.F. officer). The hall-marks appear to be Arabic numerals (dates / letters ?). On one badge the hall-mark is stamped on the front of badge preceding the letter 'S' in the title scroll, on the the other badge it is hall-maked in the reverse centre. As information. Yours aye, Mark
