Jerry,
It reads INVICTA in gothic script and is a badge of a type that is/was worn by various Kent organisations including a non MOD sponsored cadet force unit. For example http://www.kmcf.co.uk/ Tim

The scroll reads Invicta.
The white horse is extensively worn by West Kent affiliated schools, military, civil powers and other services, there are a great many which are unidentified. I would suspect the more modern look and that it has a chrome finish was the reason police may have been suggested. I’m sure Dave (altcar73) will be able to confirm or allay that suspicion. |

I have a similar one with a slightly worse rendering of "Invicta" than yours. It came with several items relating to Kent Ambulance Service. As others have suggested it is a badge worn (at various times) by the world and his wife in Kent. With a white metal finish it was worn as a cap badge by Kent Constabulary pre. 1935. In chrome by Kent Police cadets from the 1950's through to the 1970's and in gold coloured anodised aluminium by Kent Traffic Wardens pre. mid 1990's. All those I've seen are with an unmarked slider of varying lengths. But, half a dozen differing dies have been used over the years ranging from an excellent portrayal of "Invicta" through to a very poor one. Dave. |
