Interesting Gaunt Marks on 2 A/A Badges
While going through the A/A badges from a recent group of badges I noticed a few unusual "to me anyway" Gaunt maker marks. Both have tried to obscure the word London within the maker mark. On the 9th-12th Lancers they have crosshatched through the word on the slider despite the fact that the maker mark appears again on the badge correctly.
On the Grenadier Guards badge it looks as though the word was removed from the die. Leaving only JR Gaunt Could it have been done during a Gaunt transition from London to Birmingham?? Or is there another reason?? Thanks Jack
