Have you considered that he was called Cliff Winner and his nickname was "Beserk".

Simon,
Brilliant! I think you may have nailed it! Perhaps a typo / spelling error “beserk” not “berserk”

Bit like the soldiers in Gulf War 1 who got tattoos done in Riyadh that read “Dessert Rats”

Is "beserk" a spelling error? I thought it was a variation?

That's what I was thinking and coincidently around that time there was a song called "Beserk/Berserk Warriors" (both spellings turn up) by an Aussie group called "Mental As Anything" !

Turning into a bit of a mystery this one chaps.

Will post pics when I get it.

I'm sure it's a prize for something, just not sure what.

Cheerio,
Roy

That's a thought,

That would have his correct name as Cliff Winner and 'Beserk' as his nickname.

Certainly makes sense. I recall 45 Cdo were active in the Falklands and if that was his nickname, I wonder if he earned it that conflict?

Cheerio,
Roy

As a special presentation item I would think Cliff “Beserk” Winner may have been a crew member (Royal Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary or civilian) on one of the vessels that took 45 Commando down to, or back from, the Falklands.
