New SA Medical cap badge added to collection

Just received a new addition to my South African Medical Corps collection.

This is a standard SAMC cap badge that has had the snake and staff removed and the letter DU inserted.

I believe the DU stands for Dental Unit. The SAMC did not have there own Dental Corps and all dentists and dental technicians belonged to SAMC dental units.

It appears a very industrious technician took it upon himself to create his own unique cap badge.

Nice badge there and I agree someone put some work into making it. I wonder how wearing it was received?
