Royal Marines Artillery Helmet Plate 1878 - 1905
Hi the Helmet plate is in K&K 1106, could someone pass on any information on this please looked up on Google, got Bosleys 2014?? & Dead Spartan, but no actual information and would be interested in what it is roughly going for (probably paid too much??), think I would like to know if its a common badge? The Officers one was stunning pity I didn't get that!
Many thanks Billy Stamp was all I had to hand for size comparison, sorry! Hope you enjoy! Last edited by billy; 03-05-20 at 05:22 PM. |

They do crop up every now and then, not common but by no means rare. Unfortunately I am not a big fan of this one. Too much wear on the front and very little reverse detail makes it look like it has been made from worn out dies. The lugs and the way they are attached to the plate don’t look right either. Paddy |

The badges were stamped in one piece and the extra piece at the back was just a strengthening piece. I have seen badges that I think are good with and without the strengthening piece. I have read it somewhere that all the badges with strengthening pieces are fakes but personally I don't buy that (why would a faker go to the trouble of producing an extra piece of metal shaped to the contours of the badge?).
