What is the opinion on this patch?

A couple of questions Ed. Can you get a close up image of the edge? Have you black light tested the patch?

No, I have not black light tested this patch, I guess that will be the key. As for the edge view, how do you want it?

Are copies of this patch that good that only black light will distinguish originals and the synthetic thread?

Black light is only one tool. If the patch glows, it may be synthetic fibre or due to modern cleaning materials. The copies of this patch are notoriously difficult to distinguish.

I thought that the real thing had only buff or khaki coloured edges, but that could be easy to replicate. I would venture that this is a copy & most if not all are good examples or copies if you wish, I don't think I've ever seen a poor one. Some do look quite synthetic (shiny) however.
