Glasgow Highlanders
I am hoping to get some info on this cap badge. I don't collect British badges, so I really don't know to much about them. I am, being offered it as part of a deal, for some old coins that I am selling. What I would like to know, is the the era of this badge. I have seen pictures of similar officer cap badges but not quite this same. I am told that it has the Wm. Anderson markers mark on the back. I'm not looking for the value of it, but I would actually getting it for about 10 pounds ( sorry I live in Canada and my computer is in dollars) and is that a good deal.

Snatch his hand off, especially if it is marked Wm.Anderson on the back.

To reiterate what Peter has said - don't hesitate. Even without the Wm. Anderson plate it would be a great deal.
To answer your other question it is an NCO's badge of the 9th Battalion (Glasgow Highlanders), the Highland Light Infantry and is circa 1909 to 1939. Mark Last edited by dubaiguy; 12-03-15 at 12:59 AM. |

Hi Mark
I haven't got the cap badge yet, I am still hammering out the deal. My interest is in Canadian cap badges, so I don't know a lot about British cap badges. I'm sorry that I misidentified as an officer's cap badge. I've been trying to Google WM. Anderson, to find out more about the manufacturer, and looking up the cap badge but not too much luck. There are a lot of chrome on the market, so another question is how rare would is this cap badge? Thanks Len |

At least £60-100 rare. Some dealers would ask more. Alan |

I think this is the company that William Andersons became:

Hi Dan,
love the frame, well presented. One of the badges on your display may help me with a badge i have been scratching my head over for years. What can you tell me about the badge with the plume and has it got a plume holder behind? I have a KC Black Watch badge with fretted centre with red felt backing but has been fitted with a plume holder. I have not found any reference to this badge with a plume. Any info you could provide would be appreciated. Another i have may interest you, Standard Black Watch badge but with top strap reading `Glasgow Highlanders`. You can see where the die has been modified around `Glasgow` but it is an old badge. I will see if i can get some scans tomorrow. Kind regards Dave

NCO BADGE?
Hello all
I am interested in your opinions on my NCO badge from the 9th Bn HLI |

It is a fake which someone appears to have strategically stained.
Possibly the worst fake I’ve ever seen if it’s being offered/described as NCOs. |

That is a first for me. I have never seen a badge faked by painting on a gilt coating like that. Even the base badge itself looks to be bad.

If by strategically stained you mean the crown, central portion, Sphinx that is actually an overlay on the main badge.
